Cadillac is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the Optiq, a compact SUV that will be the brand's most affordable EV. The Optiq is expected to start at around $35,000, which is significantly less than the $59,990 starting price of the Lyriq, Cadillac's first electric SUV.
The Optiq is based on the same platform as the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, but it has a number of unique styling cues that give it a more upscale appearance. The front end features a large, chrome grille and thin headlights, while the rear end is characterized by a sloping roofline and vertical taillights.
The Optiq will be available with two powertrain options. The base model will have a single electric motor that produces 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This will give the Optiq a 0-60 mph time of about 6.5 seconds and a range of up to 247 miles.
A more powerful dual-motor option will also be available. This version will produce 340 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, giving it a 0-60 mph time of about 4.5 seconds and a range of up to 227 miles.
The Optiq will come standard with a number of features, including a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. Available features will include a Bose sound system, a head-up display, and a hands-free power liftgate.
The Optiq is expected to go on sale in the United States in the first quarter of 2024. It will be available in China later that year.
